Scaring Staring Eyes
Scaring Staring Eyes
Yesterday up in the skies
I met a pair of scaring eyes,
staring back at me
what could they really be?
Fear instilled with chills
shook my bones
with unknowns,
then I blink, so I can think
and make a wish to dismiss
hoping to scare away those staring eyes!
Then like a Lance
I throw a glance
and zoom around the room,
ready to freak out
jump about
scream and shout
as I find out
the scary staring eyes
are no longer glaring spies!
So in a hurry full of worry,
I say my prayers
and run off down the stairs,
wondering if the pair of scaring eyes
were ever there?

Written with one of favourite poems in mind Antigonish written in 1899 by William Hughes Mearns, the poem is also known as 'The Little Man Who Wasn't There'.
Antigonish
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there!
He wasn't there again today,
Oh how I wish he'd go away!
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall,
I couldn't see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door...
Last night I saw upon the stair,
A little man who wasn't there,
He wasn't there again today
Oh, how I wish he'd go away....
